Windows 11 keeps on getting updated and improved and in this blog I want to show the difference between 23H2 Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Pro Task Manager.
Task Manager is something we always use, whether you are just troubleshooting something, wanting to end a task not responding or in the Penetration Testing world, making sure that you backdoor or scheduled task to give you admin rights is running.
The first machine I want to show you is the Windows 11 23H2 one, here is the Windows Specifications:
Here is the task manager for this build:
You can see on the left hand side, we have a list of items such as Users which is usually on the top, still is on Windows Server, including Windows Server 2022.
The look and feel is great, graphs that feel more realistic, but the App History is a bit disappointing because it does not list the apps I work with everyday, hours at a time, it only seems to show the default windows apps though.
The older machine still has the “Classic Task Manager” which everyone is familiar with. This new Task Manager was introduced in a Windows 11 Insider Preview build a while ago, I hope its on the roadmap for servers to have the same functionality.
If you remember running “msconfig”, that is where you would check your “Startup apps” and look for malware that would be hiding.
If you have not upgraded Windows 11, please do so. 23H2 is very responsive and includes many updates and fixes to other builds plus Microsoft are retiring the older builds.
Hope you find this helpful.
