In any Exchange Environment, your users will create Inbox Rules on there mailboxes. For them it is like a filing system, Email X goes here and Email Y goes there. In my previous post we looked at the Rules Quota on a mailbox.

If you would like to see what rules have been created on a specific Mailbox in your on-premise Exchange 2016 or legacy Exchange Servers, you can run a simple command to see all the rules.

Firstly, you will need to launch the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) on your Exchange Server and then run the following command:

  • Get-InboxRule -Mailbox “User Mailbox”

This will give you an output of what the user has created:

Exchange 2016 - mailbox: inbox rules
Exchange 2016 - Mailbox: Inbox Rules 1

As you can see, the above user has a number of mailbox rules.

Hope it helps.
